Oklahoma Department of DUVCW 82nd Annual Convention
|
The Oklahoma Department of Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865 held their eighty-second annual convention, in Norman, Oklahoma on May 19, 2007 at the St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. A big thank you goes out to our host tent, Major Belle Reynolds Tent #21, whose members were outstanding in the preparation and arrangements for this great convention. Those in attendance had an enjoyable luncheon and were given the opportunity to listen to Mr. Charles Britton give his presentation titled “Abraham Lincoln: Professional Politician with a Purpose”.
Members came from throughout the state to meet for one day to carry out the business of the Department which included a memorial service and the election of the slate of officers for the 2007-2009 office terms. Ann Bailey, Past Department President, installed the newly-elected officers.
As the newly-elected Oklahoma Department President I want to thank each of you for your support and the volunteer work that we are going to see in the next two years. I am impressed by the time spent by each of you who give so freely of your time and monies in support of these worthy causes.
In Fraternity, Charity, and Loyalty,
Darlene Shawn, Oklahoma Department President
